Our children

Children develop at their own pace and according to their own capabilities. We recognise and respect this, but we do still need to have a starting point for organising ourselves, as well as organising their day. So, the children are split roughly into three groups

Tigers (from 10 to 30 months)

Chimps (from 24 to 42 months)

Crocs (from 36 to 60 months)

The age range in our organisation of children is wide enough to allow for developmental differences and capacity, but they also take into consideration the importance of social learning and the benefits that come from mixing children of varied ages and stages of development. So, if a child is helped by another more able one, we are confident that the more knowledgeable child will also benefit; the process of making their ideas more explicit will help them refine their thinking, as well as build their self-esteem.
